1:1 Nutrition Counseling Follow-up with Integrative and Functional Nutritionist

Personalized Integrative Nutrition Counseling In-person in Westchester NY,
or by Telephone Telehealth (Videochat)
with Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Janet Zarowitz, MS, RD, CDN

Your Follow-up Nutrition Counseling Session…What Can You Expect?

During a follow-up session we discuss which aspects of the nutrition care plan are working for you and which aspects you’d like to adjust. We’ll talk about:

  • what you most like about the plan and what aspects did you successfully carry out?
  • which parts of the plan do you need different strategies for?
  • have your symptoms changed and how?
  • if you are trying to lose or gain weight, has your weight changed?
  • if nutrition supplements are part of your plan, what feedback do you have on them?

Follow-up Session – Monitoring and Progress Assessment
More specifically, during the session I’ll review the changes you made — to your diet, lifestyle and supplements. We’ll address any challenges you’ve found and have plenty of time for your questions.

Based on your feedback and my evaluation, we’ll continue to roll-out your nutrition care plan, making modifications, adding new strategies — continuing to personalize it as we go along.

Since everyone is different, there is no one “recipe” for optimal health. One thing that I strongly believe, is that there are many options and pathways to get there.

As your nutrition coach I will provide you with the support and knowledge you need to be successful in making informed nutrition and other lifestyle choices!

Nutrition counseling is in my Westchester, NY office or via Telehealth (Videochat or Phone).

1:1 Integrative Nutrition Counseling – Initial Session

Personalized Integrative Nutrition Counseling
Integrative Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
Janet Zarowitz, MS, RD, CDN

Your First Nutrition Counseling Session…What Can You Expect?

Our interaction actually begins before your first session. I like to have a brief phone or email communication with each client before their first session to talk about things like:

  • what are your nutritional concerns?
  • do you have specific health and nutritional goals?
  • was there something that motivated you to seek my help?

I also have you complete a comprehensive intake form. The thoroughness of the information provides me with more specifics with which to help you.

Your First Session – a Holistic Assessment

When we actually meet (in person or via telephone or video telehealth) we’ll delve further into the details of your medical and nutritional history. This will include your symptoms and any approaches you may have already taken to address your problem(s).

My information gathering will expand upon the food you eat, medicines and supplements, medical markers and lab test results. I’ll also consider your work and home environments. Many things go into my making a holistic assessment.

At the end of our “give and take” session, I will offer my assessment and get you started on a multi-pronged personalized approach to support your body. Plans integrate diet, lifestyle, and targeted nutrition supplements to support your health. They are designed to be practical and sustainable for you. We’ll set realistic goals, priorities, and time-frames and discuss your follow-up needs.

PureGenomics Nutrigenomics Consultation

Consultation with Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Janet Zarowitz, MS, RD, CDN
Using Genetic Clues to Optimize and Personalize Nutrition

Nutrigenomics uses genetic clues to customize and optimize your nutrition.

Your consultation will include a review of your SNPs, discussion of signs of their expression, and a nutrition protocol to optimize the potential weaknesses of your SNPs.

The PureGenomics Report covers genes and nutritional supports related to:

  • vitamins, minerals
  • detoxification pathways
  • weight management and metabolism
  • cardiovascular health
  • GI health
  • cognitive health and memory
  • immune health
  • energy and fitness
  • glucose metabolism
  • antioxidant and cellular defense
  • methylation pathways
  • new nutrigenomics reports are being added

Your PureGenomics consultation can be in-person in the Westchester, NY office or remotely via telehealth (phone or video chat).

What’s the Methylation Pathway?

PureGenomics Nutrigenomics addresses the most important research-based Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs or unique variations) in the methylation pathway. These SNPs can be supported with nutrition and nutrition supplements. This individualized nutrition solution, was developed under the guidance of Nathan Morris, MD and Kelly Heim, PhD.

For example, PureGenomics Nutrigenomics analyzes SNPs in the following genes in the methylation pathway and identifies nutritional supports for each:

  • MTHFR  (A1298C)
  • MTHFR  (C677T)
  • CBS  (C699T)
  • COMT  (V158M)
  • FUT2  (G772A)
  • MTR  (A2756G)
  • MTRR  (A66G)
  • TCN2  (C766G)

Why is Methylation so Important?

Methylation is indispensible for your body, for:
  • homocysteine clearance
  • neurotransmitter production
  • hormone detoxification
  • amino acid production
  • utilization and assimilation of vitamins
  • DNA synthesis
  • gene regulation.
SNPs in the methylation pathway are surprising common. More than 50% of the population have one or more key methylation SNPs.

Because they are so prevalent, the PureGenomics Nutrigenomics approach may help many people. This may be particularly true for people whose medical issues have not fully resolved after exploring solutions with their physicians.

Note: SNPs represent potential.  Not all SNPs are expressed in an individual. A person’s genetic makeup provides additional clues that may explain an underlying factor that affects his or her health.
