Arterosil HP® – Vascular and Artery Support
Endothelial Glycocalyx Support
Supports Structure and Normal Functions of Endothelial Glycocalyx
Every blood vessel in your body is lined with a protective, yet fragile micro-thin gel called the endothelial glycocalyx which protects and regulates the entire vascular system and healthy circulation/blood flow.
A healthy glycocalyx is essential for healthy artery walls that can be impacted by aging, genetics and lifestyle choices.
Primary lifestyle contributors to the breakdown of the endothelial glycocalyx are high blood glucose, oxidative stress (eg. poor diet, environmental toxins, smoking) and inflammation.
How Does Arterosil HP Support the Endothelial Glycocalyx and Arterial Health?
Arterosil HP provides sulfated polysaccharide building blocks and antioxidants that support the maintenance of the endothelial glycocalyx.
What are the Compounds in Arterosil-HP that Support the Endothelial Glycocalyx?
Arterosil HP is a patented formulation that contains a glycocalyx-supporting compound — rhamnan sulfate — derived from a rare green seaweed (Monostroma nitidum).
In addition, Arterosil HP contains an anti-oxidant rich fruit, vegetable and green tea extract blend that provides vascular benefits and supports the effects of rhamnan sulfate by reducing oxidative stress.
US Patent: “Methods to stabilize and reverse atherosclerotic lesions by sulfated polysaccaharides.”
More About the Functions of the Endothelial Glycocalyx
Important functions of the endothelial glycocalyx in vascular and micro-vascular health include:
- Regulating vascular permeability and fluid balance
- Supporting blood vessel health, regulating what gets through to the endothelium, providing a physical barrier against inadvertent adhesion of platelets and leukocytes to the vascular wall
- Supporting healthy blood flow
- Harboring beneficial antioxidants, coagulation factors and more
- Triggering the production of nitric oxide (NO) in response to blood flow. NO is a natural gas the body produces that widens the blood vessels and has many important functions
- Regulating coagulation (many of mediators of the coagulation pathway are buried inside the glycocalyx under normal physiological conditions)
The glycocalyx structure is so important, yet so delicate. It can be damaged by many common conditions, such as high blood glucose, oxidative stress, and inflammation.
Supporting the Endothelial Glycocalyx — A Major Breakthrough in Cardiovascular Medicine
“The arterial glycocalyx will likely be the next major breakthrough in cardiovascular medicine.
It is the first line of defense for the endothelium and its production of nitric oxide. The glycocalyx is like a protective “fur coat” for the endothelial cells that helps to prevent endothelial dysfunction.
The glycocalyx itself has many functions that may lower blood pressure, reduce coronary heart disease, decrease carotid plaque and lower stroke risk. We now have the ability to repair the glycocalyx with Arterosil.”

The Endothelial Glycocalyx, Cardiovascular Injury and Inflammation
The endothelial glycocalyx is a microscopic anti-adhesive lining (“non-stick” lining) of the entire endothelium. (The endothelium is the tissue which forms a single layer of cells lining various organs and cavities of the body, especially the blood vessels, heart, and lymphatic vessels.)
Almost all cardiovascular challenges begins with injury to the vessels’ endothelium. The glycocalyx, a microscopic gel-like lining, naturally protects the endothelium.
When the glycocalyx is breached, cholesterol can adhere to, lodge under or penetrate the endothelial wall.
This initiates the inflammatory response that leads to plaque formation and thrombotic events. (The glycocalyx forms an interface between circulating blood and the rest of the vessel wall.)
The endothelial glycocalyx is exceptionally vulnerable to collapse through poor diet, disease, stress and aging. The glycocalyx plays a critical role in cardiovascular health.
