Product Description

L-theanine

Promotes Relaxation and Reduces Stress

L-theanine is an amino acid found in the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) that helps promote a restful, relaxed state without diminishing daytime alertness. It’s free of the side effects commonly associated with other relaxing agents and can be used to aid in stress management.

L-theanine is a helpful adjunct for both stress management during the day and for getting settled in for sleep. L-theonine supports a relaxed, yet alert, state of mind without sedation.

L-theanine by Integrative Therapeutics contains a highly standardized brand of L-Theanine (Suntheanine brand), providing a consistent, quality product.

One capsule of Integrative Therapeutics L-Theanine contains a modest dose of 100 mg of L-Theanine. It’s great starting with a low dose as you can double the dose according to your body’s needs.

(To give you some perspective, it’s reported that  a 7 ounce cup of black tea contains  18mg – 30mg of L-Theanine and green tea typically produces 6mg – 12mg of L-Theanine. Obviously the tea leaves and length of brewing time affect the amount of L-Theanine.)

L-theanine has been used in Japan for many years.

Here’s an article from Medical News Today about Health benefits of L-theanine.

What’s the Science Behind L-Theanine?

L-theanine has been found to promote more alpha brain waves, a type of brain wave produced when you’re relatively calm, relaxed and not overly focused.

L-theanine can enhance the production of several neurotransmitters. It plays role in the formation of GABA (Gamma-aminobutyric acid), a neurotransmitter that helps us modulate and handle stress.

L-theanine has long thought to interact with the binding of L-glutamic acid to glutamate receptors in the brain.
