These herbs and nutrients that clinically counter potentially harmful oxidative processes are contained in the ProThrivers Wellness Flavonoid Complex:
- Curcumin – Theracurmin® is a unique, highly bioavailable formulation of turmeric. It is water-dispersable and the subject of ongoing research. Curcurmin, the primary active constituent of turmeric, is a bioactive polyphenolic compound.
- Green Tea Extract – Sunphenon® brand green tea extract contains EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate), an antioxidant in green tea.The mechanisms by which EGCG acts are numerous. They include affecting enzymes involved with energy metabolism, intracellular signaling pathways, antioxidant enzyme expression and the functions of blood vessels linings.
- Resveratrol – Japanese knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum) extract is a source of trans-resveratrol, a pterostilbene also found in various berries, grapes, and peanuts. Cell culture and experimental animal studies have found that resveratrol can quench reactive oxygen species.
- Alpha-Glycosyl Isoquercetrin – This is a unique and highly absorbable (18 times more absorbable) form of quercetin. (The usual form of quercetin is poorly absorbed.) Quercetin is a flavonoid widely found in plants and with various mechanisms of action that support health.
- Reduced L-Glutathione – A randomized controlled trial demonstrated that Setria® brand oral glutathione raises tissue and blood levels of glutathione in a dose-dependent manner in healthy adults. Glutathione is the body’s major methyl donor and is involved throughout the body from tissue building and repair to the manufacture of proteins, and proper immune system functioning.
- Coenzyme Q10 – Ubiquinone is an essential co-factor in energy production in the cell’s mitochondria, or “cellular batteries.” In addition to energy metabolism, CoQ10 acts in antioxidation balance.
