Product Description
Ther-Biotic Saccharomyces boulardii
A Powerful, unique non-pathogenic yeast probiotic
Saccharomyces boulardii is a friendly probiotic yeast that augments the intestinal absorption of water and electrolytes during occasional diarrhea and increases stool concentrations of short-chain fatty acids that nourish GI mucosal cells.
Benefits and Features
- Assists individuals with occasional diarrhea†
- Supports healthy inflammatory response, where inflammation is associated with occasional digestive discomfort†
- A beneficial yeast that stimulates the immune system and promotes digestive health†
- Naturally resistant to all antibacterial antibiotics; supports normal gastrointestinal microbiota during antibiotic use†
Clinical studies show that Saccharomyces boulardii supports healthy intestinal function, promoting healthy bowel transit time.†
Detail Overview
Saccharomyces boulardii is a non-pathogenic, transient yeast long used to support normal bowel transit time.† It is a hardy, acid-resistant, temperature tolerant microorganism that is not affected by antibacterial agents. S. boulardii is genetically and functionally distinct from brewer’s yeast (S. cerevisiae) and different from pathogenic Candida species.
Saccharomyces boulardii increases the activities of intestinal brush border enzymes such as disaccharidases, a-glucosidases, alkaline phosphatases, and aminopeptidases.†
Saccharomyces boulardii augments the intestinal absorption of D-glucose coupled with sodium that may enhance the uptake of water and electrolytes during occasional diarrhea.† It increases stool concentrations of short-chain fatty acids that nourish colon mucosal cells.† Saccharomyces boulardii modulates immunity by boosting intestinal secretion of IgA and increasing crypt cell immunoglobulin receptors.† It supports a healthy inflammatory response, where inflammation is associated with occasional digestive discomfort.†Research has found that Saccharomyces boulardii supports healthy intestinal function in an array of clinical settings, supporting healthy bowel transit time.
Note: Saccharomyces boulardii is completely unrelated to Candida albicans, C. tropicalas, C. krusie, and other Candida species that cause disease and overgrowth in the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts. (Candida species decrease the acidity of the gastrointestinal mucosal environment, ultimately making the intestinal mucosal membrane susceptible to invasion by potentially harmful bacteria and yeast.)
Saccharomyces boulardii exerts the opposite effect producing lactic and other acids known to inhibit undesirable yeast species. Saccharomyces boulardii is non-pathogenic (non-disease-causing) and has been shown in numerous clinical trials to be safe and effective.
